Writing Contest – Guidelines

Dear Aspiring Transformational Authors,

If you’re truly, 100% serious about becoming a successful published author…

You need to write a book proposal… (Even if you self-publish and never go after an agent or the “Big Five” traditional publishers.)

In fact, writing a book proposal is one of the smartest, most valuable things you can do… before you write a single word of your book!

Why is that? The short of it:

A Book Proposal Is A Business Plan For Your Book

You must remember, as “transformational authors”… we’re a little different from other writers.

We’re not writing a murder mystery we hope Hollywood will pick up. We’re not looking to win literary or journalism awards either.

As a Transformational Author, we want to change our readers’ lives… and launch (or grow) our business.

And in order to do that with our book, we need three things:

  • A deep understanding of our readers
  • A message that speaks to our readers
  • A platform to reach out to our readers

A book proposal is the foundation of all three of those things!

And that’s why…

The Transformational Author Writing Contest has always been about writing your book proposal.

We know from almost a decade of running this contest… The process of writing your book proposal is life-changing.

Everyone who has entered this contest – since 2011 – feels like they WON simply by hitting “submit” and sending their proposal in for consideration.

I’m not kidding.

I’ve had hundreds of authors write back telling me…

Getting this book proposal done… and hitting the contest deadline was the “turning point” in their author’s journey that led to their book getting published.

And here’s the best part:

I’m going to give you everything I can to help you win this contest.

I’m not joking! I am going to help you write this book proposal.

When you enter this contest, you get free training, tools, support, my team and your community of fellow transformational authors to help you write your book proposal.

But in order for you to qualify for entering this year’s Transformational Author Writing Contest, you must be a platinum or diamond pass holder.

How A Previous Contest Winner Landed Two Publishing Contracts And Grew Her Business to $250,000+

Let me tell you about Lisa Barnett (who you’ll hear from on Thursday June 21st)…

She entered this very same exact contest back in 2013.

She didn’t even care about the prizes. She knew the importance of a book proposal. But what’s more, she knew she’d never get it down without a deadline.

So… she used her contest deadline as the reason to get her book proposal done.

Writing the book proposal helped Lisa clarify what her message was… and helped her outline her first book.

Here’s the crazy part:

Lisa won one of the big prizes in that year’s writing contest… but didn’t find out until she got text and FB messages from her friends!

She had literally submitted the proposal and forgotten about the contest – because she did it for the deadline..

Anyway — with that book proposal…

She went on to land two publishing contracts… and grew her holistic business to over a quarter-million in revenue today.

Judging Process

Each proposal will be reviewed and considered for prizes based on the quality of the proposal and on adherence to the Judging Guidelines listed below. For the prizes from Christine Kloser Companies LLC, Capucia Publishing, Lifestyle Entrepreneurs Press, New World Library, Waterside Productions, and Keller Media, proposals will also be judged based on the fit for the agent or publisher and how successful the publisher feels the book can be in the marketplace. Contest sponsors are looking for proposals from authors who are deeply passionate about their work and want to make a positive impact on others.

Judging Guidelines

The contest will be judged by the editorial staff of Christine Kloser Companies LLC and select industry experts. The following guidelines will be used to choose the winners:

  • Compelling Content

Submissions will be judged on the appeal and impact of the author’s work and the book’s message.

  • Clarity of Message

Submissions will be judged on the author’s ability to clearly communicate through the written word the content and message of their book.

  • Author’s Expertise

Submissions will be judged on the author’s ability to share their expertise in a manner that gains the reader’s trust and holds their attention.

  • Market Appeal

Submissions will be judged on how viable the author’s work will be in the marketplace and how large an audience it will appeal to.

No prizes will be awarded by “chance” or “luck of the draw.”
